Cape Town South Africa Engagement Session

When do you feel the most alive? For me, my heart soars whenever I can combine two of my favorite things: traveling + photographing. Capturing this engagement session in Cape Town, South Africa felt like a dream. In all my travels, spanning multiple continents, I have never seen scenery like Cape Town offers: majestic mountains, a roaring ocean, and sparkling beaches. Elske and Norman are two of the most joyful, sincere, and totally-in-love people I’ve ever photographed (since starting my business in 2007). They cuddled, kissed, and danced on the beach….I just snapped away—and I couldn’t stop smiling as I watched them interact.

I loved hearing how they fell in love. Both born and raised in Cape Town, Elske + Norman met several years ago at church. One Sunday morning, Norman was sitting in the back row of the church he has attended since age six. He glanced toward the front and noticed a stunning girl (Elske) and admits he couldn’t take his eyes off of her.

The next few Sundays, he started gradually (and purposefully!) choosing a seat closer to the front-- until he was conveniently situated close to Elske—perfect for introducing himself during the meet & greet time!! : )

“We just clicked. I remember thinking how strong, unwavering, and sure of herself she was, she was everything I had asked the Lord for and more,” Norman recalls.

They became engaged at the Cape of Good Hope (which is spectacular scenery) and are anticipating tying the knot! They're just perfect together.

I remember noticing Norman's candid expression here, which signifies total contentment--they're crazy about each other!

And Norman sat like this (totally GQ) as he tried telling me he was nervous that he'd be awkward in the photos...ummm no chance of that, you two!
